An Atlas of Airways at a Single-Cell Level

Focus Tissue Handling and Processing

Project Goal

To optimize tissue processing and providing benchmark data for multiple methods of analyzing diverse anatomical locations of the human airways.

Results & Resources

The Barbry lab established ethics and processing procedures for sampling normal lung tissue, generated reference data from multiple regions of the airway and examined asthma patients. Their validated protocols for cell dissociation are openly available on protocols.io. Additionally, they have released a preprint that characterizes airway subpopulations during differentiation in 3D cultures of human and mouse airway epithelial cells, and in biopsies from human and pig airways.
