Cell Atlas of the Human Eye from Birth to Old Age
Project Summary
This team will use single cell and single nucleus RNA-sequencing, computational inference, and histological analysis to generate a comprehensive reference atlas of cell types in the human eye, incorporating data across the natural lifespan.
Results & Resources
This group generated a complete dataset of the front-most region of the eye, comprising the lens, iris, ciliary body, trabecular meshwork, corneas, and corneoscleral wedge. They published a protocol on cell dissociation from the trabecular meshwork and developed methods to integrate single-cell RNA-sequencing, in situ hybridization, and immunohistochemistry to improve cell type identification. Additionally, the team explored various disease groups using the retinal database ECLIPSER to analyze expression quantitative trait loci (eQTLs).
