Bay Area Housing Solutions on the Rise

Our communities are stronger when we all have a safe, stable, affordable place to call home. It’s clear that California residents are making housing affordability a top priority. In 2018 alone, voters from across the state enacted two statewide measures and 14 local measures to address housing needs in the Bay Area and beyond.

We’re seeing new strategies have great success. For example, our ability to bring affordability protection to existing housing.

Local leaders, including San Jose Mayor Sam Liccardo and Oakland Mayor Libby Schaaf, are making innovative housing solutions a key focal point of their work. Recently, housing advocates, faith leaders, businesses, philanthropies, and policy leaders also teamed up to make meaningful change through The Partnership for the Bay’s Future, with over $500 million committed to regional housing efforts There is much more work to be done, but with each new policy and partnership, we’re making progress toward a more vibrant and equitable place to live — and thrive — for all.
