Cell and Tissue Preservation to Construct a Human Cell Atlas
Focus
Gastrointestinal
Project Goal
To create, optimize and share cryopreservation methods for cells comprising visceral organs like the pancreas.
Results & Resources
The Kim lab developed a controlled procedure to cryopreserve human pancreatic
islet cells. Robust assessment of these cryopreserved cells using Patch-seq revealed transcriptomics and functions are largely maintained in these cells, although less activity may be indicated by electrophysiological parameters. They developed a library of protocols that are openly available on protocols.io.
