Computational Tools for Traversing Genes to Cells to Disease
Focus
Scale
Project Goal
To pioneer the development of methods and software to understand differences in how cells behave, and to implement these in Hail, a scalable software platform designed for biological analysis.
Results & Resources
This project addressed the larger goal of adapting and extending Hail, the scalable infrastructure the Neal lab built for genetics, to the problem of single-cell RNA-seq method development and data analysis. They designed and implemented a user level python interface for n-dimensional arrays adapted to fit into the existing Hail interface and extended the representation to include n-d array and linear algebra primitives.
