KTH Royal Institute of Technology (BioImage Informatics Facility)
Karolinska Institutet (Live Cell Imaging Facility)
Bio
Dr. Miranda is a bioimage analyst and a researcher at KTH Royal Institute of Technology in Sweden. She is also an active member of the BioImage Informatics Facility at KTH, and the Live Cell Imaging Facility at the Karolinska Institute. Her role is to provide support to researchers in developing computational methods for analyzing microscopic images in order to understand biological processes. In 2019, she received a double PhD degree in Computer Science & Applied Mathematics from the University of São Paulo, Brazil, and in Applied Biological Sciences from Ghent University, Belgium. She has a keen interest in the intersection of computer science and biology, and works on multidisciplinary research projects in the biomedical field involving computer vision, machine learning, and data analysis.
Project Description
By working closely with facility users, Dr. Miranda provides training and consulting on microscopic image data. She plays a crucial role in connecting the image analysis expertise of the BioImage Informatics Facility (BIIF) with the imaging technology provided at the Live Cell Imaging (LCI) facility. Her knowledge of state-of-the-art image analysis techniques is essential to the daily research activities of LCI and other imaging facilities throughout Sweden. She ensures that researchers in the life sciences are able to apply best practices in image analysis and to apply cutting-edge methods in analyzing their microscopy data. As part of a national network, she will continue to bridge the expertises provided by BIIF with other facilities and research groups.
