Our Grantmaking

Today, we launched a new Grants & Ventures page to provide more information on our investments and giving — including a database of our 2018 grantmaking.

At the Chan Zuckerberg Initiative (CZI), our mission is to build a more inclusive, just, and healthy future for everyone. Every day, we are working to find new ways to leverage technology, community-driven solutions, and collaboration to accelerate progress across our focus areas of Science, Education, and Justice & Opportunity.

In addition to traditional grantmaking to support people and organizations working toward our missions in each of these areas — as well as local giving through our Community team — CZI makes venture investments in impact-focused companies, builds tools and products that we can scale and give away for free, and engages in policy and advocacy work to help make lasting change.

Today, we launched an interactive database of grants on our website to provide more information on this giving in 2018. The database includes grants made through our three grantmaking entities: the Chan Zuckerberg Foundation, a 501(c)3 private foundation; the Chan Zuckerberg Initiative Donor-Advised Fund (DAF) at the Silicon Valley Community Foundation; and Chan Zuckerberg Advocacy, a 501(c)4 organization.

On the new Grants & Ventures web page, we are also providing more information about our ventures work— investments made in companies working on issues at the heart of our mission. To learn more about our work visit the CZI Newsroom or explore our CZI 2018 annual letter and milestones here.

As a private philanthropic organization launched in December 2015, our aim is to provide more transparency for our work and areas of giving. Moving forward, this database will be updated annually in February of each year.
