Science is increasingly data driven. Ensuring that datasets are adequately curated and preserved, and that they remain accessible to end users, is an ongoing challenge. I chose to support Phoenix Bioinformatics, a local non-profit, because of its dedication to scientific data stewardship. I want to support its work in preserving essential data repositories in multiple scientific domains including plant genetics, biological pathways and evolutionary biology.

I chose to support Phoenix Bioinformatics, a local non-profit, because of its dedication to scientific data stewardship.

At CZI, we work at the intersection of science and technology. I strongly believe this is a powerful and necessary approach to solving the complex problems we choose to tackle.

Our multidisciplinary ‘sci-tech’ team consists of scientists, engineers, data scientists, product and design experts. We are passionate about solving a common problem, yet we do not always speak the same ‘language’ given our diverse background and training. As a scientist with experience in ‘tech’, ‘a life of service’ inside CZI means supporting my colleagues by serving as a bridge between science and tech.

Our work does not stop within CZI, I am in constant and close contact with the user community that we serve including researchers and rare disease patients. I want to focus on their needs and create solutions to solve problems they’re facing.
