I chose this organization to help support immigrants/refugees who need immigration legal assistance, education and civic engagement opportunities.
I came to the USA at the age of six from Mexico with my parents and sister. I recall the struggles we went through as a family to get our visas, and then our resident cards, and all the applications we had to fill out, the fees my parents had to pay. I remember several times my dad hearing “no, we can’t help you”, seeing my mom cry from frustration. My dad eventually met a lawyer who was willing to work on our family’s immigration case. My parents were able to get their residency card and then eventually became US citizens.
I chose this organization to help support immigrants/refugees who need immigration legal assistance, education and civic engagement opportunities.
Giving back to my community by supporting small local businesses, volunteering my time, and engaging in events to support the community.
