The CZI Community Space celebrated many new milestones in 2024, hosting over 250 events led by our inspiring nonprofit partners and welcoming nearly 7,000 guests. This year, we’re thrilled to build on this momentum by expanding membership eligibility to nonprofits across the Bay Area.

As of Feb. 1, Bay Area nonprofits that support San Mateo County residents are eligible to host meetings, convenings, and events in the Community Space, even if they are based in neighboring counties such as Alameda or San Francisco. Previously, only nonprofits headquartered in San Mateo County were eligible to access the space.

The expanded eligibility underscores our commitment to building a thriving San Mateo County, where everyone has the agency and opportunity to prosper. By inviting nonprofits across the region to host events free of charge, the Community Space continues to prioritize the needs of our local community.

“The Community Space has always been a place where people can come together to create meaningful change,” says Alma Pulido, program officer for local impact at CZI. “Expanding access to organizations that serve San Mateo County — regardless of where they are based — helps further our mission of fostering opportunity.”

To celebrate this milestone, CZI hosted an Open House in the Community Space on January 30, bringing organizations from across the Bay Area to explore the space and build connections.

Some of the most inspiring events held in the Community Space recently include the inaugural Holiday Night Market, which celebrated local small business owners, cultural performances honoring AAPI communities, and a film screening for the Housing Justice Storytelling Initiative, which zoomed in on California’s housing crisis. These events are a testament to what’s possible in the space, and we look forward to welcoming new nonprofits, partners, and community members for this next chapter.
