Mark and Priscilla support the communities where they live and work by partnering with local nonprofits, supporting local solutions, and addressing emerging needs to help these communities thrive.

We’re partnering with local nonprofits to help build thriving communities, rooted in the belief that strong partnerships and shared spaces are essential for connection and opportunity.
The Chan Zuckerberg Community Fund invests in organizations working to expand opportunity and strengthen communities in San Mateo County. The Chan Zuckerberg Community Space offers a free venue where nonprofits can host events, meetings, and community gatherings. Together, these efforts support local organizations, foster collaboration, and help build a stronger community ecosystem.
Alongside this work, we also invest in strengthening safety net services — from food and housing to emergency assistance — while advancing long-term housing affordability through ongoing investments across the Bay Area.

Community Fund

The Chan Zuckerberg Community Fund supports nonprofit organizations that are helping build a thriving San Mateo County, where everyone has the opportunity to prosper. Since 2017, the Community Fund has invested $34 million in over 200 local nonprofits providing essential safety-net services such as food, housing, and emergency assistance.

Community Space

The Chan Zuckerberg Community Space in Redwood City is a free venue for nonprofits, community organizations, and local partners serving San Mateo County. Since opening in 2022, the Community Space has hosted hundreds of events — from workshops and trainings, to cultural celebrations and community forums — saving organizations valuable resources while fostering connection and collaboration. More than just a venue, the Community Space is a hub where relationships are built, ideas are shared, and opportunities are created to help our community thrive.

Hawai‘i

The Chan Zuckerberg Kaua‘i Community Fund of the Hawai‘i Community Foundation, supports local nonprofits doing impactful work. Since 2016, Priscilla and Mark have supported dozens of Hawai‘i nonprofit organizations, driven by ongoing conversations with Kaua‘i residents, leaders, and service providers for both immediate needs and long-term support.
