For my Life of Service gift, I selected three organizations that support the academic success of students, since my parents always instilled education as an important variable to success. First, the Menlo Park School District played a critical part in my educational journey, and I want to pay it forward to provide the same level of service and educational opportunities to future generations.
The second organization I selected is Generations United. My parents weren’t always able or available to help me with my homework due to English being their second language and their busy work schedules, so I am empathetic to young students growing up in a similar situation. Generations United bridges the gap by providing educational resources, mentorship, and complementary services to help students and their families thrive.
Lastly, I chose the Bay Area Gardeners Scholarship Foundation, now known as the Catalino Tapia Foundation. I am a gardener’s daughter, and I’ve grown proud of my roots and my parent’s hustle and hard work to further our family. With that said, a student should not be limited in achieving their educational aspirations. The foundation helps by granting scholarships to applicants.
I am grateful for the ability to pay it forward for those in my community and honor my parents, Alma Rosa and Luis Pulido.
…a student should not be limited in achieving their educational aspirations.
I strive to live a life of service both “inside and out” by supporting the work of the Brand & Communications team at CZI, volunteering at my daughter’s school, and finding ways to support my community.
