Inferring the Tree of Cells
Focus
Trajectories
Project Goal
To infer the hierarchical relationship between the different cell types in the human body.
Results & Resources
The Hemberg lab investigated the tree topology of human cells, with a fertilized cell at the root and terminally differentiated cell at the leaves of the topology. Large amounts of single-cell RNA-sequencing data have made it possible to start inferring parts of this tree. The Hemberg lab developed a computational method to execute this type of inference, designed to scale to very large datasets.
