Proposal Summary
To improve Spyder support for connecting to a remote machine to develop, execute, and debug Python code, as well as installing packages, managing environments and interacting with the remote filesystem.
Project
Spyder
Spyder is a popular desktop IDE amongst scientific and biomedical researchers. One key concern is how users can use Spyder when they cannot connect to the server through a web browser or want to use an IDE. This project will develop an ad-hoc protocol to communicate with the server through a local installation of Spyder. This will allow users to develop code remotely from their local machine with a desktop IDE, while efficiently using the server resources at the same time.
