Project
Investigating Similarities and Differences Between Chronic and Acute Inflammation
Focus
Gut, Metabolism, Microbiome, Neuroimmune
Project Summary
Chronic and acute inflammatory processes both send a message throughout an organism to trigger repair, although it is unclear how similar or different they are at the cellular level. To investigate, acute (gut leakage of bacteria) or chronic (obesity) inflammation will be induced in animals before analyzing the response in several organs. Analysis will clarify how specific cells associated with metabolism, the immune system, and the nervous system sense and respond to chronic or acute inflammation.
