Project
Probing the Role of Inflammation in Heart Regeneration
Focus
Cardiovascular
Project Summary
This team will examine differences in cardiac injury and repair across time and within species. Researchers will perform experiments after inducing heart injury in young and old mice, and take advantage of a special species of cave-dwelling fish whose heart tissue regenerates after injury, but only in populations that live close to the surface. Analysis of these unique datasets will identify specific genes that correlate with regenerative ability within a single species and across age.
