Project
Understanding Inflammation’s Role in Childhood Obesity
Focus
Obesity
Project Summary
Obesity is a chronic inflammatory state that affects the immune system and many tissues. However, it is less clear how childhood obesity affects physiology and whether there are long-term consequences for the immune system even if obesity is corrected. This team will profile a mouse model of pediatric obesity to understand how immunity changes in multiple tissues throughout the lifespan. Samples from obese young mice, before and after bariatric surgery, will help clarify similarities to human children.
