Collaborative Pairs Pilot Project Awards (Cycle 1) (Phase 1)
Focus Area
Neurodegeneration
Project Description
Aberrant protein synthesis and impaired protein quality control have been linked to neurodegeneration. Ribosome-associated protein quality control (RQC) is a new mechanism for protein quality control that has not been well studied in the context of neurodegenerative disease. This team of cell biologists will apply cutting-edge molecular and biochemical methods to investigate how RQC contributes to protein homeostasis in neurodegeneration, exploring a potential new pathway for novel therapeutic targets.
