Next Generation Neuropathology: Proximity-Proteomics of Proteinopathies
Award
Collaborative Pairs Pilot Project Awards (Cycle 1) (Phase 1)
Focus Area
Neurodegeneration
Project Description
While neuropathology remains the gold standard for diagnosis and characterization of neurodegenerative disease, the core methods deployed in most neuropathology labs remain similar to what they were decades ago. The purpose of this project is to establish a next generation approach to neuropathology, developing a method to determine the protein composition of disease-causing aggregates in human brain tissue. This team will apply proximity-proteomics and digital pathology methods to a collection of human tissue samples from a broad spectrum of well-characterized neurodegenerative disease cases.
