Using Computer Vision to Annotate Cryo-Electron Tomograms of Neurons

Award Collaborative Pairs Pilot Project Awards (Cycle 1) (Phase 1)
Focus Area Neurodegeneration

Project Description

CryoEM is a cutting-edge methodology still relatively new to the neurodegeneration field. This project aims to develop computer vision and deep learning algorithms to annotate and model subcellular and macromolecular structures in 3D cryo-EM tomograms. This will generate important insights into the cellular pathology underlying Huntington’s disease, as well as develop data and workflows that could open the opportunity for broader application of cryoEM technologies to other neurodegenerative diseases.
