Project
How Western Lifestyles Modify Immune Responses in East African Populations
Focus
Genetic Diversity
Project Summary
This grant will support studies on how western lifestyles modify inflammatory response at the single-cell level in East African populations, specifically the Turkana people of Kenya. Analysis of single donor cells will clarify the types and ratios of cells present in different individuals, the role of lifestyle in immune balance, and how genetic background impacts immune response when cells are stimulated.
